About This Product
The object is held lightly between spindle and anvil while the thimble is turned, using the ratchet stop if fitted so that soft specimens are not crushed, and the combined main and circular scale reading is corrected for zero error. Physics and Applied Mechanics students turn to it when caliper readings are too coarse, for example for the diameter of wires or the thickness of sheets.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How is a micrometer screw gauge different from a vernier caliper? A vernier caliper covers broader external, internal and depth measurements, while a micrometer screw gauge is used mainly for finer external diameter and thickness readings.
Q2. Does the Vernier Micrometer Screw Gauge need batteries? No. It works with a screw, sleeve scale and thimble scale and is read by hand.
