About This Product
For static balancing, each block is clamped on the shaft in turn and its relative weight is found with the cord and container system, counted as a number of steel balls. A moment polygon drawn from these relative weights then gives the angular and axial positions of the blocks, and the motor rotates the shaft to check dynamic balance while the system hangs on chains. In a THEORY OF MACHINE LAB, the rig also lets students observe the effect of unbalance in a rotating mass system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How is static balance found on this apparatus?
Each block is clamped on the shaft individually and its relative weight is found with the cord and container system, in terms of a number of steel balls.
Q2. How is dynamic balancing carried out?
A moment polygon is drawn from the relative weights to find each block's angular and axial position; with the blocks clamped on, the motor rotates the shaft to check the dynamic balance.
Q3. What electrical supply does it need?
0.5 kW, 220 V, single phase.
