About This Product
To build a coil, the length needed for the target resistance is worked out, the wire is wound evenly on a heat-resistant insulating former so that bare turns do not touch, and it is tested briefly in a current-limited low-voltage circuit. Gauge decides the resistance per unit length and the safe current, so it should be specified when ordering this coil from the Magnetism range.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Is Constantan Resistance Coil Wire the same as Eureka wire? Constantan and Eureka are names commonly used for related copper–nickel resistance alloys; the exact grade and composition depend on the wire supplied.
Q2. How does the wire's resistance depend on its size? Resistance depends on the alloy's resistivity, the wire length and its cross-sectional area. A longer or thinner wire gives a higher resistance.
